About us

Wolfcubs - long-stock-coat German Shepherds from working lines

Behind Wolfcubs is me, Anke Scholl, together with my husband Hendrik, my mother Marlies who lives with us, and our pack of long-stock-coat working-line German Shepherds. We live in Namborn in Saarland, Germany, on a property of around 1,000 square metres with space to run, train and simply be dogs.

Our dogs are not couch potatoes. They are willing to work, strong-nerved and want to be challenged physically and mentally, in sport, daily life and family. At the same time, they do not live in kennels; they live in the house with us and are full family members.

Who are we?

We breed long-stock-coat German Shepherds with undercoat from working lines. Our dogs are best suited to active people who enjoy regular training, movement and dog sport.

Puppies grow up in our family pack with people and dogs around them. Early socialisation in the house, on the property and in changing environments is part of our rearing: garden, fields and forest, and later small, age-appropriate trips into town, railway stations or lifts, always built positively.

With the adult dogs we go hiking, swimming, to restaurants or for ice cream. We love dog sport, but our dogs are never just sporting equipment. They are family dogs with a job.

What are our goals?

We want our puppies to leave for their new homes as well prepared as possible. That includes thoughtful pairings, structured and loving rearing, and early health safeguards.

While the puppies are still with us, we test them for relevant genetic hereditary diseases, such as DM, MDR1, dwarfism and more.

Our focus is on:

Health, both physical and genetic
Sound character, strong-nerved, clear-headed and social
Performance, working ability in line with the breed standard
Good looks, never at the expense of health or temperament

The goal is a capable all-rounder who feels at home in sport, is resilient in everyday life and remains stable in the family.

What do we expect from future owners?

Anyone who takes on a Wolfcubs dog is choosing a living being, not a product. There can never be an absolute guarantee, but thoughtful breeding, species-appropriate rearing and a lot of heart can create the best possible start.

We want our dogs to have active homes. That does not mean IGP training five times a week, but the dog should be fulfilled physically and mentally: IGP, tracking, obedience, mantrailing, lunging, canicross, hoopers, rally obedience or another form of active work.

If someone wants a dog who simply runs along without the family being genuinely active, we are probably not the right breeder. Our dogs want to be challenged, not overwhelmed, and guided fairly, clearly and lovingly.

A loving home and respectful handling are essential to us. We are always happy when contact continues after the puppy moves out: photos, videos and short updates help us follow the development of our lines.

Associations & breeding rules

We breed within the Verein fuer Deutsche Schaeferhunde e. V. (SV), and therefore within the VDH and the FCI. Our breeding is subject to the corresponding breeding and trial regulations.
